Coaching Resources

MYR Coach Requirements

All Minnesota Youth Rugby coaches must meet the following requirements:

  • All head coaches of contact programs must be USA Rugby Level 200 certified, CIPP registered and have a  "CURRENT"  status with USA Rugby
  • All other coaches must be least a Level 100 USA Rugby coaching certification, CIPP registered and have a "CURRENT" status with USA rugby
  • All coaches must submit proof of passing the CDC “Heads Up” Concussion certification (MN state requirement every 3 years)
  • All coaches must submit proof of passing the USA Rugby concussion training (included in USA Rugby registration)
  • All coaches must submit proof of passing the Safesport training and test (included in USA Rugby registration)
  • All coaches are required to be background checked (included in USA Rugby registration)
  • All coaches must sign and submit the USAR Coaches Code of Conduct (Provided at the preseason coaches meeting)
  • Coaches are encouraged to attend meetings or training hosted by MYR staff (Pre and Post season meetings must have one representative from each team present)

Registration of a Minnesota Youth Rugby Coach under any other level (i.e. player, referee, or Eagle Supporter) does not satisfy the above requirements and requires filling out a dual registration form at www.usarugby.org

Minnesota State Coaching Requirements

All MYR coaches must complete the following requirements.

USA Rugby coach registration

Yearly Requirement.

CDC Heads Up Concussion Training

Must be taken every three years.

Code of Conduct

Yearly requirement.

USA Rugby Level 100 Requirements

Please complete these requirements to be "CURRENT" as a Level 100 coach.

World Rugby Ready Training

One time Requirement.

Rookie Rugby Online Training

One time requirement.

World Rugby Laws Exam:

Recommended to take as often as needed.

2018 Simplified law exam is being developed at this time. We will update this link when it becomes available.

USA Rugby Level 200 Requirements

Please complete these requirements to be "CURRENT" as a Level 200 coach.

Complete a Level 200 course

One time requirement.

US Olympic Committee Safe Sport Training

Must be taken every two years.
